Faith like a Child

“At that time Jesus declared, ‘I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will.”      Matthew 11:25-26

It’s amazing that even the intuition of a child can simply trust in the message of the Gospel. What exactly is this intuition? Is the writer really just talking about a child-like state where you can’t really articulate or reason? The writer of the gospel gets at the point that faith is not so much about having air tight apologetics, scientific evidence, or rationalism that allows Christian to believe. Instead, faith is something freely given to God’s elect according to His own will. It’s not the wisdom of the world that will comprehend the faith, but simply God stooping to the level of the child, God adopting them by revealing the Gospel to them, and creating a child like faith through the Holy Spirit that simply receives the gift of the Father.

We (those who repent and believe in Christ) are the Father’s delight. Nothing would please the Father more than to reveal the Father’s delight in the child. He doesn’t just give us fancy tricks by tearing paper in front of our faces (ie. miracles, money, relationships, etc.), but he reveals the ultimate testimony of His Love by revealing to Gospel to us.

I hope my Kid is just as cute as this one. And chubbier.
